Tommy Goodman 

Tommy Goodman is a Carrollton, MS artist that attended the University of Mississippi from 1964-67 and received his Bachelor of Art from Delta State University in 1968.  Continuing his education, he did post grad work in Fine Art at the University of Alabama and received his bachelor of architecture from Auburn in 1974.  Since then he has been an award winning architect at design firms in Jackson, MS and Birmingham, AL where he has received numerous state, national and international awards for design excellence.  He retired from architecture in 2006 and became an adjunct architecture professor at Mississippi State University until 2009 and now is a historic restoration consultant that spends most of his days painting Delta landscapes.  His sweeping landscapes are acrylics on paper as well as on wooden door panels.

 

Artist Statement:

“Growing up in the Mississippi Delta, I’ve always been intrigued by the haunting horizontal vastness and variety in Delta panoramas, particularly the skies.   As I paint from memory and past observations, the completed image is always an abstraction of the original experience.”
