Pat Brown

"My work of the last few years has in mixed media---particularly handmade paper, textiles, basket techniques, drawing, collage and occasionally wetplate collidion photography---because it allows me the broadest vocabulary for expressing ideas and visions. Sticks, reeds, paper pulp, cords, colorants, and found objects are tactile materials which release my play instincts. They also intimate connections to the earth, to recycling, to growth, maybe to mysterious conversions.  Intuitively, I gravitate toward primal forms though really, there are many interlocked influences for imagemaking."
